10BA are a rock band from Melbourne who take their name from an Australian tax concession that subsidized a string of ‘genre’ films in the 1980s. These films were typically loud, brash and designed to inflame the senses of a bored underclass. The tax concession is now long gone but in the spirit of these films, 10BA have released their first album Wild Mind. It’s nine songs of surreal, apocalyptic heaviness with musical influence taken from Black Sabbath, Ministry, Neutral Milk Hotel, David Bowie and Crispin Hellion Glover. Manic goodness ensues when singer Priesley DiMarco chants out his ominous, beat poetry style vocals against a musical vortex provided by guitarist Thomas Madden and the other guys. 10BA’s debut EP The Chosen Pig was described by Beat Magazine as “an amazing, intoxicating sound” but the merriment shows no sign of stopping there..
