A Lie for You originally formed in August 2005 as a jam band consisting of Ricky, James(Jim) and Mitch and Layla Bowman. First started when Mitch and Ricky first met. They got talking and found they had similar music tastes, and had some band experience, so they got together for a jam. After a couple of months of playing covers, with influences from bands such as Silverchair, Taking Back Sunday, Green Day, The Offspring, Grinspoon, All time low and other such bands they realised that if they were going to think about competitions such as the Next Big Thing, they would need to start writing some original material. Later on Layla decided that the band wasn’t for her, so the band went on the lookout for a new bassist. Not long after they found Cameron Duddy, who had experience with bands before and was very willing to get back into playing. After further refining there tastes and sounds they met up with Luke Forgarini. They found he had similar tastes so they recruited him as a rhythm
