Melbourne's newest purveyors of hard-edged, thumping 70's-inspired Blues/Funk/Prog/Alternative Rock have arrived. Otherwise suitably known as The Advocates. This explosive, high-energy three-piece features the talents of Mike Elrington on guitars/vocals, Roderick McLeod on drums & Oscar Lopaczuk on bass. Fusing sounds inspired by the likes of Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Cream, Tea Party, Audioslave & the Chili Peppers to name a few, this is one band not afraid to take chances with genre-bending ideas, tight musicianship & epic song structures. All topped off with Elrington's howling, soaring & Chris Cornell-type vocals. Previously known as the Mike Elrington Band, Mike, Rod & Oz have been together since 2003 and since their inception have cut their teeth playing blues clubs & festivals throughout Australia, the United States & Canada. I hate writing band bios... They're tedious, uninformative slabs of self-serving propaganda and I don't think I ever managed to write one that didn't slip into that category... So, rather than bore you with the "origins", "influences" and "creative background" of us as musicians and as people, I wrote this... In a far away universe made from cookies and cream a little boy with ears of cloth listens to his gramophone... The other boys don't like him, they say he's too quiet, too strange, he doesn't like playing spaghetti blues or wearing pointy shoes... Most days he paints the setting suns with a mixture of marshmallow clay and soy milk, but when he goes to sleep the other boys ruin his paintings and tease him for being a freak... Fed up with life in his hard candy village he packs what meager possessions he has and sneaks onto a caravan traveling down the rocky road... He doesn't know where the caravan is heading, but any place should be better than this, he thinks... Watching the

Like a finely polished sledgehammer to the skull, Melbourne's Advocates combine the ferocity of metallic hardcore with tech metal styling's and straight up pummeling groove. Their debut eight track mini album ‘Mindless’ was released on 12 November via UK based label Ghost Music. Originally from NZ, the end of 2013 saw Advocates relocate to Melbourne in Australia and recruit 3 new members. After releasing their first EP with the new lineup 'The Complex Truth', Advocates toured extensively throughout Australia. The band is currently hard at work writing their debut Album due for release 2020.
