Alan Creed used to be from Sydney. For now he calls the NSW Central Coast home. Alan has been making music since the early 1980s - the early years were spent playing guitar with seminal Sydney punk bands like Government Downfall, No God No Dog, Execution Masks and as vocalist for metal punkers, Aberration. Later he would make more melodic poppier punk rock with acts like The Inchmen as guitarist and vocalist, and with ex WWXXIV/Itchy Rat fellas in Black and Blue. The 90s landed with a big grungey splat and Alan formed Dr. Fruitworld fronting on guitar and vocals with some ex Black and Bluers, releasing a couple CDs through Shock Records and touring and performing with many excellent 90s acts like Hoodoo Gurus, Redd Kross, Front End Loader, Frenzal Rhomb, Nitocris, Tumbleweed, You Am I, Magic Dirt, Brother Brick, Asteroid B612 to drop a few names - you get the picture, right? Rockin' punk... Later still, Fruitworld disbanded and Creed moved on to guitarring with The Panadolls alongside more said ex Black & Bluers and Fruitworlders ... plus a Kelpie and a Porcelain Busser ... and even a Splatterhead, releasing EPs, 7" singles and an album before calling it quits. Next up was a much more power-poppy 3-piece affair, Hey Charger, guitarring and vocalising with Bill Gibson on bass (Eastern Dark, Smelly Tongues, New Christs, Orange Humble Band, Pyramidiacs... ok far too many to mention here) and Peter Kelly on drums (ex- The Flies, Vanilla Chainsaws, New Christs etc. also too many to mention). The Charger only fired up for one release before Gibson split to join the Lemonheads and Creed took up a guitar post with legendary Sydney band, The New Christs, fronted by Radio Birdman's iconic singer, Rob Younger. Five years, a European tour and 7" and album releases later, Creed left the NCs to pursue other, more garagey noises. With Al on guitar, this new outfit, dubbed Hell Crab City, released a couple of exciting, high-energy garage punk albums on Brisbane's Turkeyneck Records before calling it a day when singer/guitarist Scott Barker passed away suddenly. With little left to do, Al was approached by ex-Lime Spiders bassist Tony Bambach to reform his 80s punk outfit, Aberration. Al agreed and immediately recruited Stuart Wilson (Loose Pills, ex-New Christs, Lime Spiders etc.) on drums forming a tight unit that released an album that reimagined the 80s material along with some unreleased songs from The Inchmen setlist. They are currently working on an album of all-new material. When a guitar position fell vacant in Newcastle's excellent East Coast Low - a band with some great tunes and steel city rock and punk cred via ex-members of the fantastic the Fools, No Reason, and Cabin Fever - Creed jumped at the role. They recorded and released a single together, "Gun Club Road", and are now in the midst of completing their second full length album. In amongst all this, Alan Creed has begun to carve out a solo space for himself, diverging into areas previously uncharted by him, performing more accoustic, singer/songwriter style material along with anything from melodic pop to slow, dark outings that are more on the sinister side of the street to what he has been previously known to traverse. Who knows what will be next for Mr. Creed? The future is unwritten
