With a love for catchy hooks and a longing to join a wider creative community, 24yo Melbourne artist Alfie Young has taught himself to sing and song-write since 2015. At his most comfortable in a lower range, Young took a cue from crooners past and explored swing and big band, before disappointing his grandma and turning towards a more modern sound. Despite this change, he hasn’t shed his deeper vocal tones, and he weaves these into his pop tracks to create something truly infectious. In 2016, a viral video featuring Young and his no-chill cat garnered the artist 13 million+ views on social media. Although this experience was exciting, Young endeavours to share what makes him imaginative, rather than relying on his cat for fame and validity (although he’ll take her on the ride anyway). In 2019, Young gears up to demonstrate his knack for writing sing-aloud car jams, lead by a distinct vocal style.
