Born in mid north South Australia, alternative pop artist Alicia Joy was brought up on music. Family jams around her grandparents’ kitchen table were common and if there wasn’t singing at Christmas, was it even Christmas? When Alicia left school she made a short, ditch attempt at pursuing music, which involved several years studying it, some instrumental music teaching, playing in a band and working on her original music. She then decided to “get a real job” and although she doesn’t regret her degree, or becoming a freelance writer, giving up music really wasn’t a great plan. What even is a “real job” anyway?! So, after trying to take a break from music for some time and realising how unhappy that made her, Alicia is back in the game with new songs, filled with stories of heartbreak and musings about life. She’s one woman with a keyboard and she loves a minor key. Be prepared to feel.
