At the 2020 Golden Guitar Awards, Allan Caswell picked up his 8th Award with Manfred Vijars for Bush Ballad of the Year. That award represented a huge span of 40 years from his first award in 1980. Caswell is Australia’s most recorded songwriter, with well over 750 of his songs being released around the world by artists such as Cilla Black, Patti Page, The Irish Rovers, The Living End, Slim Dusty, Barry Humphries, Ricki May, James Blundell, McAlister Kemp, Graeme Connors, The Wolfe Brothers, Anne Kirkpatrick, Chad Morgan, Lynne Hamilton, Beccy Cole, The Wolfe Brothers and Ella Hooper among dozens of others. In 1979, Caswell wrote the theme for the Australian television series Prisoner (Cell Block H in England). ‘On The Inside’ was a number #1 hit in Australia and New Zealand and later reached number #3 in the UK, with the Patti Page version making the country charts in the USA. Caswell has won 8 Golden Guitars from 44 finalist nominations. He has also been awarded twelve song writing awards from the Tamworth Songwriters Association, including The Songmaker Award. In 2018 he was inducted into Tamworth’s Galaxy of Stars. He has won nine awards at the Independent Country Music Awards (Southern Stars), including Album Of The Year for three of his albums. In 2020 he and Lindsay Waddington formed the classic country duo Lynchburg.
