Altar Ego is a four-piece progressive rock/metal band that is becoming known around Melbourne. The band was formed in 2008 out of a desire to play music that is instrumentally interesting and lyrically challenging. Our hope is that our music will encourage people to understand and question their own and others' beliefs. Our lineup is pretty diverse: from the city, the country, and Asian America; two-parent, one-parent and broken families; childhoods with and without church influences. Somehow we all ended up in Melbourne and united by our faith and love of music. In between busting out tunes, you might find Jon and Tristan discussing accounting methods or Ben and Kieran discussing computer coding, all disbursed with Simpsons and Bible quotes.
