Edit history

Alvastra are a Melodic Death Metal band from Hobart, Tasmania. Forming in early 2011, their greatest influences are the likes of In Flames, Gojira, Septicflesh and Behemoth. Throughout the band’s brief history, they have accomplished a great deal locally and nationally. On the 21st of June, 2011, Alvastra’s first demo: ‘On Our Way Home’, received airplay on ‘The Racket’, Australia’s most popular metal segment on FM radio station Triple J. The demo was broadcast alongside new releases from acclaimed metal bands In Flames, Gojira, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Iced Earth and many more. Additionally, Alvastra won the Southern Tasmanian heats of the Tasmanian Rock Challenge in both 2011 and 2012, and subsequently secured a slot at the state finals on both occasions. Alvastra’s 4-track debut demo CD is planned for release in late 2012.
