With a style reminiscent of 2010s boom bap, Brisbane hip hop artist Amity showcases introspective wordplay over contemporary beats and aims to inspire his audience with a blend of personal reflection and social commentary. His 2020 debut album Assorted Nonsense was produced by the likes of Rob Shaker, Hamley and Dom Cork. Lead single The One received airplay on 4ZZZ’s Pass the Aux and Alive 90.5 FM’s Point of View, and saw him perform a sold-out headline show at The Flamin’ Galah. Following this was 2021 EP As Above, the first of a two-part conceptual project co-produced by the artist himself. Two years later, Amity is set to release companion EP So Below – the darker side of his life for the past five years – on 15 December. Amity has played small festivals ScorcherFest, UBERfest and Off the Record, supported established locals MC Wheels and ZEKIEL, and was chosen for a Heaps Decent songwriting workshop. Now he is stepping out to cast a shadow of his own.
