Amylou is an Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, performer and music creator who spent years in Melbourne and the U.K., crafting infectious songs in folk, indiepop and electronica. Going previously by the name Amy Alexander, Amylou emerged from an 8-year long hiatus and wrote 4 tracks in her home studio in Beechworth, Australia. She asked Josh Lovett at High Street Recordings if he could mix the tracks. “At that point I wasn’t sure I was going to do anything with them, I just wanted them to sound better. If Josh had said he wasn’t able to help, that might have been the end of it right there and then”. However, Josh took on board the project. “To my delight he not only said yes, but pumped his fist in the air for me which gave me a real pep to keep writing. The next thing I knew, I was in the studio every day churning out song after song, having the time of my life allowing this immense force of creativity and expression to come through.” In the second half of 2024 Josh passed on two tracks, Lucid Dream and Oh, Death, to Denno at Smurf Glow Studios to be mastered for release. “By that time, I had a whole album of songs and wasn’t showing any signs of slowing down.” By late 2025 Amylou had two albums’ worth of songs and selected 12 tracks for the album. She called it Fly - a short, succinct word describing her journey of intense creativity, change and reflection. This diverse collection of synthpop/electronica songs are bound to get you ruminating on your life through the lens of her own. Fly was released in early July 2026 on Subvert and Bandcamp, prior to the official streaming release coming up on July 18th. The music video for the song Dead And Gone was released on July 11th.
