Brisbane based singer/songwriter Andrew Kennedy emerges from a period of hiatus with his new full length album Style Lies. The album’s title is taken from a lyric in the song That’s what they want, playfully describing the kind of formula that many aspiring artists are encouraged to follow. “There’s always a pressure to write songs a certain way,” says Kennedy, “to try and force the song down a particular direction. But I’ve never been able to write anything worth listening to that way. Most of the songs on Style Lies emerged from absent minded ideas sung into my phone when I was supposed to be doing something else. Going Down was actually a song that came to me in a dream as a duet with Neil Finn and I was lucky enough to remember it when I woke up.
