Raised in country New South Wales, Andy Nilsen has been writing songs since the age of fourteen. "I used to spend quite a lot of time sitting in the middle of a paddock writing music. I think creating music was the best way I had to express myself in small town environment." "The only places I ever got to play was at the local school. On weekends I used to drive to Orange which is a larger town near by. I was about 17 at the time and I'd play these 3 hour cover sets at some of the local Bistros. It was pretty shit cause I just wanted to play my stuff but there was seriously no market for it." After finishing high school, Andy moved to Sydney in order to further his own music. He began playing smaller venues such as the Cat'n'Fiddle, Annandale and Empire hotel. Gradually Andy built up a 6 piece band to support his songwriting and in 2005 he released his debut EP 'Big City Dawns.'
