ANIENT - (AN-EYE-ENT) To frustrate; to bring to naught; to annihilate. Anient is an Australian thrash/death metal band formed in 2005 in regional Victoria. The founding members Ben, Dave and Quentin all who were in previous bands that was not metal decided form. What slowly started as a garage band eventually became a passion for all of them. However at this stage the band was without a title. They needed a name that suited the fast and aggressive style of music, eventually after months of playing and writing material and research the title Anient was adopted. The word means 'to frustrate to bring to naught to annihilate', which seemed appropriate as it accurately described the aggressive musical style. The band influences ranges from 80's Thrash metal to Death Metal, Rock and Alternative which in turn formed a unique sound like a fast brutal assault on the senses to rocking chunky rhythms so that first time listeners can relate to.
