In late January 2010, Antarctica was formed from the scattered ashes of a couple of well known Melbourne bands. In June, less than 6 months later, they headed off for a 15 date European Tour, which included the headline spot @ Schilling Festival, promoting their recently completed self titled LP. Recorded in the bedroom of a scunge-infested Fitzroy terrace house in March, the album was then taken to Hothouse & Deluxe Studios in Melbourne, where Finn Keane (Midnight Juggernaughts) & Jack the Bear (Nick Cave) lent their considerable experience & talents to the cause. Packed with catchy singles, the LP sits somewhere in between an indie rock record and an electronic pop album. Having only been digitally released in Europe to date, Antarctica plan on releasing their LP on home soil a little later in the year when singer Nedd Jones returns from other international touring commitments with The Night Terrors.
