Inspired by the contemporary IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) movement Aureate's latest compositions comprise a modern opera of sorts; a concept likened to that of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, in which each piece relates to, and is appropriate for the season of it's namesake. Much like Benjamin's 18th Century counterpart these pieces reflect the age, culture and techniques of their maker. While many of the sounds he employs are quite literal and can be directly linked to a place, feeling or theme, he also uses textures and more specifically, utilises the timbre of every voice, instrument and sample to their greatest effect to paint with sound. Benjamin's music is typified by the consistent use of theme, variation, pacing and often different movements within each piece, as he realises the tried and tested virtue in these age old devices of good composition and songwriting.
