Before becoming a DJ, producer, and performer, Ausli Hue first assumed the role of a multidisciplinary storyteller—and what a foundation this has proven itself to be. We can come to expect each project he undertakes to be an experience independent and unique from the rest of his oeuvre. Does form follow function, or vice versa? For Ausli, they are one. So in life, as in art. Ausli was born and raised in Columbia, Maryland, where his parents (father was the church pianist; his mother, a vocalist) immersed him in an eclectic blend of musical influences and genres, ranging from hymns and anthems, to classical orchestrations, go-go, R&B, and jazz. Today, his most notable inspirations include Chaka Khan, Snarky Puppy, Lianne La Havas, Disclosure, Eric Whitacre, and Beyoncé. By leaving home in 2013 to enroll in Parsons School of Design, Ausli believed he might be closer to the construction of a musical life.
