Melbourne’s latest noise / post-punk outfit AUTO LAPSE are shaking walls in and around Melbourne with their unique blend of slow contorted walls of fuzz paired with tense and minimalist instrumentation. The trios focus on balancing a dynamic relationship of noise and sparsity, pace and minimalism, assimilate in a mathy collision of chaotic samples, feedback and drones. Late 2018 saw the induction of Auto Lapse into the Melbourne music scene, uniting from common interests in 90s grunge / post-punk heroes such as Slint, Duster and Codeine. The short lived but seminal works from these artists quickly formed the drawing board for Auto Lapse’s inspired sound, resulting in their debut ‘Soft EP’ release in July 2019. Released via Reverse Shadow Records and launched to a great reception, packing out the Retreat Bandroom despite a very wet
