My name is Ave Pes, I have been writing music for what seems like forever. I got my first guitar when I was 8, and until I was 10 it sat in the corner of my room. I like to think it was a nice bottle of wine that I cellared until it was ready for drinking. When I picked up my guitar at 10 I almost never put it down again, I was hooked. I grew up in Adelaide where I was raised conservative christian, so my younger years were spent listening to church music and christian rock bands. Skillet, Lifehouse and Switchfoot were in constant rotation. At age 15 I found City and Colour and absolutely thrashed his 'Sometimes' album. Finally I had an artist that I wanted to be. About a year later someone told me to listen to Jeff Buckley and I think it was two years till I listened to anything else. I wanted so much to be able to sing like Jeff and have spent countess ours trying to hold high notes like he can. I started listening to electronic music around 2012 when dubstep arrived in all its

Avé’s deep love for writing and performing has seen him transforming from playing in bands in Adelaide to writing and recording solo in Sydney; refining his process of starting with a simple beat, minimal instrumentation, and a tonne of vocals, and using the studio to embellish what is quickly becoming the trademark Avé Pes sound: richly harmonic and wonderfully rhythmic. With another 6 songs dropping this year, fans of Avé Pes are looking forward to his EP launch later in the year where he reimagines these studio tracks with a new live band on the Sydney stages.
