Barrel Dawg is a powerhouse blues and roots act known for their deep-rooted passion for raw, traditional sounds. With a love for cigar box guitars and unpolished blues grit, they deliver high-energy performances that hit the listeners straight in their soul. Barrel Dawg are currently based in Lithgow with strong roots in the Mid North Coast, with plans to return to the North Coast in the near future. Barrel Dawg are a bunch of misfits known for their unrelenting sound, which fuses traditional blues with gritty, modern elements. If you dig Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Seasick Steve, then chances are you going to dig Barrel Dawg! The band is led by frontwomen and cigar box guitar virtuoso B-Dawg (AKA Mella) whose soul-shaking raucous vocals and raw, visceral playing have earned Barrel Dawg a reputation as one of the most entertaining acts in the underground Aussie blues scene. Their unique blend of swampy, Southern-inspired blues and rock has earned them a loyal fanbase. Not to mention, there is that wild percussionist Mutley, who wears a Tamborine as a collar and plays electric washboard (who loves to tell ‘Dad Jokes’). Mutley says “Turn it up to 11! – quote from Spinal Tap” Barrel Dawg are known for emotive storytelling and thought-provoking lyrics. Their music explores a range of themes from personal introspection to social commentary, with their dirty, swamp sounds stemming from Mella’s love of cigar box guitar, group vocals and percussion. Barrel Dawg’s raw and honest approach has earned them a dedicated following, resonating with fans who appreciate authenticity and vulnerability in their music. With an EP out and new album due for release, get behind these dawgs if ya dig them blues, roots, country, folky, swampy indie tunes!!!!
