BASHKA Musically spanning two continents and many centuries Bashka is about the contrast between east and west, composed and improvised, original and traditional, acoustic and digital. Melbourne based band Bashka is an ever-evolving electronic live outlet for multi-instrumentalists and producers Alisha Brooks and Murat Yucel’s sonic endeavours, with emcees such as ElfTranzporter, Erci E and One Sixth and many master musicians from Australia and around the world. Since their Music Victoria/Age Awards nominated debut album “Fihi Ma Fihi” (2016) which featured over 30 musicians from 5 different continents, Bashka has been exploring and combining different styles such as 70’s psychedelic sounds, old school grooves and gritty beats accompanied by eastern melodies and sounds. True to their name “Bashka” meaning something different in Turkish, the band’s music and performances are never the same. Their 2023 singles “Bazen Var Bazen Yok” and “Galaksi” with Erci E; “Gönül Salıncağı” and “Time to Disobey” with ElfTranzporter and their latest single “Burn It Down” with One Sixth are testament to their new sound and style.
