A multi-cultural, genre-hopping experience - untouched by the bleached uniformity of corporate muzak - Batty Wing Wing show the depth that can be wrung from just electric guitar and drums. This emerging band offer a welcome change to the spokes-people unit-movers filed under alternative in your local cd barn. A three-piece two guitars and drums- they have a stripped, pared down sound, fleshed out with haunting lyrics and distortion. Moody and evocative, they build tension in their songs before releasing it in an explosion of catharsis. Some of the influences that emerge from the Wing Wing soup are acts like Joy Division, Velvet Underground, early Sonic Youth and a Dean Martin-style lounge act.
