Not much else is needed but a man and his few instruments when a voice can tell a story with as much resonance as Josh Newbegin’s. Singer, musician and songwriter, Newbegin dwells between the country and coast of Victoria. His acoustic meditations in the form of prayer and praise couple up with his brooding vocals to install sobering narrations to music. Part of the magic comes from recording in the comfort of his hometown dining room. The simplicity and unpolished performances create a sincere platform for his lyrics. With a little Johnny Cash and a bit of Bob Dylan on the side, Newbegin brings back some good, folky food for the soul. Dubbed by all who know him as a musical fusion wunderkid, tunes from this south-side groover are well worth your time. A mere benchmark for the journey-based expression he is to parade.
