Beijing Bikini are a Sydney underground rock and post-punk band whose poetic and irreverent songwriting brilliantly combines jangly guitars and heavy rock distortion with melodic choruses and observational lyrics. Vocalist Bob Blunt (also of Garry David) and bassist Darcy Eunson-Cottle met at university in the early 1990s where they formed The Bacchantes. After catching up for a reformation in 2015, they sought out guitarist Drew Thomason (MoMos) and drummer Terrie Van Stee (The Baddies) to form Beijing Bikini and release their 2018 debut self-titled album. Redbackock.com said of the album, "Gnarly guitar, tell-tale, raw lyrics and plenty of in-your-face indie, sonic assault... Bob Blunt pens stories around simple life snippets and captures moments in time that showcase a piece of Aussie life's everyday tapestry." Though they played regularly across the Inner West of Sydney and wider afield in Brisbane and Newcastle in the intervening years, in June of 2024 the band re-introduced themselves to the Australian music scene with the contrasting sounds of two new songs – the heavy-swinging, Swervedriver meets Mudhoney sound of 'Butterhead' and the classic indie guitar pop melodies of 'Unresolved Care', ahead of the release of their new album Once So Pretty in October 2024.
