Ben Rogers' Instrumental Asylum is a high-energy surf-rock trio dedicated to reverb-drenched surf/spy/guitar-noir. Based in Melbourne, Australia, they play a mix of rocking original compositions and instrumental classics that pay homage to their influences (Link Wray, Ventures, Atlantics, Shadows, Duane Eddy and even Django Reinhardt), but with their own distinctive distorted twang and tough edge. Previous releases include 4 albums that have all received positive reviews internationally: - In Search of Lasseter's Riff (2018) - Instrumentally Disturbed (2010) - Reverb Rehab (2007) - Welcome to the Instrumental Asylum (2006) The band's recording of Django Reinhardt's song Nuages was listed as a recommended versions in a best-selling reference book, The Jazz Standards (Ted Gioia, Oxford University Press). It was described as "a raw electric version, with hints of blues, heavy metal, and surf music." The band plays live around the Melbourne pub circuit, particularly the St Kilda area.
