Bettyramble are a new power trio from Perth hellbent on slamming a gnarly 90's-style, alternative rock sound through your speakers and into the live arena. With a jaw dropping live show, they are producing a tremendous wall of sound, bigger than most 4 or 5 piece ensembles. Last year they bunkered down with West Australian rockers Dan & Brad from Gyroscope at their Skullery Studio to record their debut single Slow Buzz, and the results are incredible. A huge anthemic romper straight to the gut. An honest, raw and uplifting tribute to relationships strained by circumstance and distance. Slow Buzz means something and it connects with the listener on a deeper level. Spearheaded by vocalist and guitarist Laurie Luke, whose 2019 solo EP hinted at harder hitting sounds, Bettyramble carves out a sonic tour de fore with James Downie (bass) and Darren Webb (drums), reminiscent of Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Stone Temple Pilots and early Silverchair. But can three musicians hammering away in a grungy rehearsal studio still reach an audience? In a musical epoch monopolised by monthly listens and playlists on Spotify, popularity contests played out on social media platforms, and inane viral videos that repurpose ancient chart hits, Bettyramble’s sincerity certainly stands out. “I want people to get the same feeling that I get in my chest when I play the songs. You get a certain look on your face when it hits. Some people call it guitar face, like a musical orgasm, it’s not a pretty look, but it’s one I recognise when I see it, and those that know, they know it too.” - Laurie Luke
