Though his songwriting focusses strongly on contemporary problems, Will Weir's project draws on a rich history of Melbourne post-punk. Harsh textures and chromatic melodies reminiscent of The Birthday Party are pitted against the brooding tension of Rowland S. Howard's album Teenage Snuff Film, with a fevered intensity and drawled vocal delivery akin to contemporary Danish punks Iceage. The band was conceived in early 2019 as an outfit to play some of Weir's songs at The Cornish Arms for the Sydney Road Street Party. Weir then went dark to record his debut EP with producer and Dead Family Pets label manager Jarrah Saunders, re-emerging with a new 6-piece incarnation of the Bigots and a raw, focussed energy.
