Bill Hunt could be most successfully described as a singer/songwriter, however his stylistic excursions, which encompass everything from folk to country pop with a latin flourish to almost crooner-like balladry cover a territory which defies genre. Poetic, wry, brimming with allusion, Bill’s songs are often like short stories with a musical accompaniment—form follows narrative (choruses, middle-eights optional), structure serves the mood and meaning of the words which may be whispered, spoken, sung or wrung out like an old dishrag. And just as words have hidden meanings, the person of the writer and performer remains hidden behind the songs. The impetus for creation is to feel alive, to leave a trail that can be followed back to its source, to know that you have been something at some time, somewhere.
