Stoner rock and vintage roll are what BLACK-LOTUS do best. Formed in November 2004 in the dusty plains of Horsham, Victoria, the band consists of Karl Stehn (Drums), Andy Malcolm (Guitar & Vocals) and Justin Stephens (Bass & Backing Vocals). BLACK-LOTUS play solid riff rock which can be compared to local acts Wolfmother, Rollerball, Cockfight Shootout, and are inspired by overseas artists Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Brant Bjork, the Hellacopters and Nebula. In the summer that followed their last days of High School, Andy, Karl and Justin formed their first band together that would be solely dedicated to the writing of original material, Dragline. Heavily influenced by bands Kyuss and Monster Magnet, early successes in Battle of the Band competitions gave them great local exposure as well as Melbourne gigs. Shortly afterwards, the members drifted to different parts of Australia. Now the boys have re-united a few years down the track to create the solid stoner rock outfit that is BLACK-LOTUS.
