Black River Bell (aka Sydney singer-songwriter Timothy Bray) writes dark folk songs that explore nature in crisis, existential dread, shadowy daydreams and the spaces in between. Conjuring a dystopian vision of the Earth being ravaged by climate change, latest single ‘The New World’ instantly lures listeners into this dark scenario with its opening lyrics: ‘When the seas are rising, will you float so gracefully, or will you barely keep your head above?’ It's a haunting introduction to the world of Black River Bell's debut album 'The Great Unknowing', which was written as a personal reaction to the era of climate change and explores this existential threat and its unfolding consequences in myriad ways across its nine tracks. 'The Great Unknowing' was recorded and produced by Neal Sutherland (Jack Ladder, Sally Seltmann, Donny Benet) at Free Energy Device Studios in Sydney. It was an immense undertaking, over three years in the making and has recently been released to strong reviews
