Blank Instrument is Perth based singer songwriter Kim Franklin. A singer and lyricist and for many years, she embarked on a new journey to learn piano and compose her own songs. Her first EP So Far, released in 2020 captured unique snapshots from her life - a snowy train ride in London to lifelong commitments and the winding roads of WA’s southern coast. For 2022’s My Piano Sounds Okay, a different approach was required. Working with producer Patrick Carré at Artisan Studios, these new songs have transformed from mere ramblings into fully fledged narratives. Balancing simplicity and space with intensity and passion, My Piano Sounds Okay is about embracing imperfection – being okay with wherever you are, knowing you have the power to work at things. For the future, Kim hopes to take the lessons learned through this process to continue to write songs and share them as widely as she can.
