Combining things that shouldn’t work is a key part of the Blue by Dawn ethos, one that has bound the trans-Atlantic duo of Jim Dixon and Patrick Lang since their first alcohol-fuelled demos started to emerge in late 2007. Blue by Dawn hail from Adelaide, South Australia, though singer, saxophonist and resident whiskey critic Jim Dixon now resides in London, England. Their continuing working relationship is one which could only exist in the 21st century, with the miracle of cheap recording equipment and fast email access keeping the proverbial creative juices flowing. Borne of a desire to create dynamic, exciting and warm music within the context of the electronic, Blue by Dawn combine their more contemporary sensibilities with their love of blues, jazz, melancholy and a cheeky sense of humour.
