Whether it's upbeat euphoria or darker tones you seek, Blue vs Red has the bright lights in the middle of the room and the shadows in the corners covered. This duo doesn’t mind confronting the realties of the human condition but they'll be damned if they're not going to have the devil's fun doing it. Beat riddled rock and guitar infested electro are both inadequate descriptors of the soundtrack to self-destructive fun that ensues. For just when the floppy sounds from late last century lead you to acid house conclusions, or a wall of guitars invites you to assume that eyes gaze fixedly at the top of the Chuck Taylors, a more sophisticated groove leads you to suspect a healthy batch of DFA in the iTunes library. Whatever you make of it all, it's probably what it sounds like at the messy end of a night that you got all dressed up for.
