Bluff emerged from the sweaty afternoon sessions of a group of misfits in a Victorian coastal town garage. Their first audience called the cops, their second knocked timidly just to tell them she really liked listening to them from across the street. It began as an exercise in musical boredom prevention by three guys, Niko (guitar), Jay (drums), and Marko (bass), each with lots of time on their hands. All three had played in bands over the years, and, liking what they heard, they asked the only singer they could think of; a 21 year old woman who had never sung in a band before, to come along and have a yell. The guys were spellbound from the start as Anna’s voice rose out of Niko’s guitar riffs. Marko and Jay instantly joined in and Bluff was born. The feeling of synchronicity was so great the band never felt the need to work songs out, preferring to let everyone play their part as they felt on every occasion. Bluff came together earlier this year when ex-Nutsack members Marko and Jay came together with Niko and Anna. Anna discovered she had a voice at a party last summer. The past year has been spent exploring our sound and direction.
