Hendrik de Vries was trained in classical violin at an early age and performed with the Kew Symphony Orchestra in his early teens as the violin soloist. He also performed with the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra at the age of 16. As his horizons expanded he started performing as a session musician and recording with artists such as Billy Miller of The Spaniards; James Freud and Sean Kelly (The Models) and worked on a recording with Lobby Lloyd. He appeared in a cameo role on Countdown with John Justin and the Thunderwings before his blossoming career was rudely interrupted by a head on collision and a 3 1/2 month stint in hospital with multiple fractures and internal injuries. This didn't keep him down for long and he went on to play with several other bands and performed with Broderick Smith. After years of support for other musicians and teaching violin, Hendrik has gathered together a band of talented musicians from the Newcastle area to form Boneman.
