Born Again Hypocrite tear through the line between punk hardcore and old school metal, taking cues from the ’90–’05 hardcore/metalcore wave (Raised Fist, Unearth, Hatebreed) and fusing it with the thrash and industrial grit of Slayer, Testament, Pantera, Sepultura, and Fear Factory. Chapter II sees Si RW (vox), Jeff Newell (guitar), Rodney Crowley (bass), Harlan Jackson (lead guitar), and Steve Hatchman (drums) unleashing a heavier, sharper sound built on crushing riffs, furious breakdowns, and vocals that don’t let up. Formed during COVID, the band debuted with the Scamdemic EP in 2021. In January 2025 they released The Shallows, followed by the upcoming single Grave Effigy on October 4. A brand new EP is set for release in early 2026. Asked what genre they are, the answer is simple: “The Metal.”
