Instigator of the collaboration, Brett Poliness, is known to Australian grunge and art-rock audiences of the noughties as the drummer for Melbourne-based outfit, Silver Ray, having released four highly lauded studio albums and joined Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds on tour. Poliness later appeared as drummer for ex-Bad Seeds member, Hugo Race & The True Spirit, and featured on stage and on record with Mick Harvey, Brian Henry Hooper (Beasts of Bourbon, Kim Salmon, Rowland S. Howard), and many more. Joining Poliness for the duo’s debut is vocalist, Katie Scott, whose searing lyricism and onstage presence are trademarks well-known to Australian alt-rock audiences. And for Poliness, the choice to bring in Scott was an easy one, as he notes, “Katie’s voice was absolutely perfect for this. She had an immediate understanding of the music and the approach that’d be required. The nature of the music demanded huge passion and strength, which is Katie all-over.” Scott has appeared with Howl at the Moon, Pony Face, Plague Doctor and at the forefront of her solo project as Ladie Dee. With an array of creative influences - from Portishead, and Tom Waits to Billie Holiday and the crucial legacy of Jeff Buckley’s songwriting
