From Meanjin / Brisbane, Bubblegum Haircut deliver a statement as undeniable as their songs and attitudes. Their sound drives forward an intense feeling of repressed nihilism and distain that the gritty city holds deep down like a man in the gutter. The bands energetic dynamic between mucky and relentless bass, drums and now guitar, are accompanied by lyrics that float between themes of war, oppression, love, drugs and other. They are a band that give the feeling of being both advanced in on all fronts as well as bringing freedom of escape - for which are shown in its band members reality. Over the past two years Bubblegum Haircut have shared stages with bands such as These New South Whales, CIVIC and CLAMM, as well as international touring acts. They also played a headline show in Bali, Indonesia. Bubblegum Haircut has come out of Meanjin's DIY punk community and they've done things accordingly. "Hang Me Up By My Boots" is their debut independent album due this May 13th.
