Buckland (real name David Stewart) is an emerging theatre-maker, performer, and composer creating unafraid, honest, and emotive art that intersects the worlds of sound and stage. Covering a broad spectrum of sounds, Buckland’s music moves through pop, new wave, and Krautrock spheres, permeated by 80s synths, drum machines, novel textures, and electro colour. His music has been compared to the likes of John Maus, Cate Le Bon, and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and Tangle of Shame was featured in RTRFM 92.1’s Sound Selection upon release. Growing up in Kalgoorlie and Boorloo (Perth), the 22 year old Buckland has been embedded in Western Australia’s music ecosystem from a young age. He formed the band and fixture of the local scene Man Sandal in 2014, and has also been a recording engineer and producer for many smaller scale projects such as Smol Fish and Talking Trash. Buckland’s theatre credits include SITU-8, Beginning at the end of Capitalism, and REST.
