On a fateful night in 2017, Butter emerged from the melting pot of the Fremantle music scene. Soon, distinctly wonky rhythms began to spread from dimly lit jam-rooms to stages across Australia.  The 7 piece’s sounds range from smooth neo-urban soul to slammin electric energy , however, blink and you’ll miss Butter’s brief encounters with any genre. The biggish band features smooth trumpet and sax lines, boom-bap drums, twinkling jazzy keys and roaring synths and pads. Think NYC late nite horns paired with modern hip-hop sounds. The bands blended love for Soul, Hip-Hop, Folk and Post-Punk shines through their releases such as 2018’s Mixtape ‘I Can’t Believe it’s not Butter’, their breakout single ‘Hocus Pocus’, and their upcoming debut EP ‘Kid Think’.
