Emerging from somewhere between Tweed Heads and Tassie, surf rock group BUTTERBOX has asserted themselves into the Northern Beaches music scene. In late 2018, Cal, and siblings Ella and Corey, formed the band, later bringing Ethan in on drums. Since then, the band has become audience choice finalists of KALOF and Northern Beaches Council’s Northern Composure 2019 and 2020, and supported Hockey Dad in Happy Mag’s Underproof 2019 alongside four other local beaches bands. BUTTERBOX has also played with progressive Australian artists such as Ocean Alley and Dear Seattle at their 2019 charity festival, ‘A Day for the Beaches’, in Narrabeen, Sydney. Upon the recent leave of our guitarist Cal, we recently welcomed Kieran to the band. Influenced greatly by Australian Indie Rock acts such as Ruby Fields, Alex Lahey and Scoot the Loot, as well as international artists like the Red Hot Chilli peppers, BUTTERBOX centres around funky bass riffs and driver guitar.
