Having started playing piano at the age of 6, I continued to recite classical and jazz until around age 14 when I started to get the urge to not just recite music but compose my own. The journey of learning about production, beat making and synthesis began. Originally djing and producing Psytrance and progressive/tek-house. After spending the second half of my teens spinning tunes at many a "doof" party and the odd festival and club/pub gig around the NNSW and SEQLD regions I was drawn back to my roots in hip hop, dub and reggae. This led me into djing and producing a lot of Trip Hop, Glitch Hop, Dub Step, Hip Hop, Chill, IDM etc.

Calamus has been producing electronic music since the mid 2000's, with a wide range of musical influences including the likes of Hermitude, Amon Tobin, Tipper, Anderson Paak, Flying Lotus, Sampha, Jordan Rakei, Mac Demarco, Mura Masa, Nick Hakim and Tyler the Creator.
