Saudadé (pronounced "saw dade") is the debut EP from Sydney-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cam Mackellar. Known in independent film circles for his panoramic, ambient-folk soundtracks, MacKellar adds the broken symphonic sound of strings, antique pump organ, Plastic Ono-era guitars, and – for the first time – his voice, to fashion a diverse and innovative debut. After a spell spent writing and busking in France and the US, MacKellar returned to Australia to tour nationally, lending his guitar skills to Shane Nicholson's live band. Settling down in his home-town of Sydney, MacKellar moved into a barely converted stable just off Glebe Point Road, Glebe, where he began recording Saudadé on a vintage analogue 8 track tape machine. With help from co-producer DC (Brigitte Handley and the Dark Shadows) and drummer Stella Mosgawa (Warpaint,Lenka), Mackellar found his voice as a writer and singer in amongst the developing sonic textures.
