The Card Houses began when Emily first got paroled from prison. Upon release she decided that she felt like robbing the first shop that she came across. It just so happened that the owner of this shop, Chris, was singing to himself at the time. When Emily broke the glass to enter the shop, she accidentally cut her arm. The resulting scream that she gave, however, harmonised beautifully with Chris’ singing; and although Chris started crying and begged not to be hurt, the two of them instead formed a band. After Emily had cleaned out the cash register of course. Wait... That was a bold-faced lie! The Card Houses really began when Emily asked Chris to help her put some guitar tracks over her original songs. Sure, it’s not as interesting, but it’s the truth. At first the partnership just started out as a helpful arrangement, but as time progressed Emily and Chris began writing more as a duo, and were forced to create an actual, real-life band when they got offered a gig out of the blue

Card Houses is a songwriter/producer from Brisbane, influenced in equals parts by video games, post-hardcore, fantasy movies, and fun facts about trees. You can catch them in their natural habitat with their crew at All G Records (QLD) and Lab Co (VIC), or possibly on stage doing their best impression of a ball of rubber bands.
