Chinese Handcuffs are an instrumental Melbourne three piece who like a mixture of darkness and light. They enjoy a shift in dynamics, from soft and slow to dark and noisy. The group aspires to fill up an aural space, whether that space is filled via a simmering silence or ascending to a thick barrage of layered noise. Chinese Handcuffs began jamming in February 2012 and played their first gig in the following September. Being just a three piece, their instrumental soundscapes are generated live by looping and layering the guitar and synth. When this combination is coupled with melodic bass lines and driving drumbeats, a sound is delivered that can only be described as being as fat as the wallet of a ruthless pillaging mining magnate! Chinese Handcuffs, the more you pull you’ll stay.
