Chris Wessing & The Sang-froid Three bring to the table a finger-lickin’ mix of alt.country, indie pop and garage rock. More like a single entity than a band, these boys play a brand of messy Americana that only four Tasmanians could! CWATST started life re-interpreting Heavy Metal songs into pop ditties back in 1997. But a severe lack of ability from all concerned meant the only way the band could function was to compose their own material. All attempted writing, but only Chris’ songs proved coherent. Chris envisaged this next phase of the band’s life as a modern day version of Neil Young’s Stray Gators band, but with the input of all members the songs morphed from pretty alt.country tunes to more of a Moby Grape/Can amalgam (as long instrumental folk/psychedelic rock freakouts would become a regular at their scarce live shows). CWATST have now returned to their alt.country/pop roots. However, this is only a portion of their catalogue’s diverse outlook. Over the past nine years
