Claire Becker is quite an unusual artist to emerge from the Adelaide music scene. Their haunting, ethereal pop style, captivatingly unique lyrics and dramatic stage presence immediately captures audiences. Not only a singer-songwriter but also a producer, film director, visual artist and writer. An all-round artist who has worked behind the scenes for years. But after tirelessly honing their craft, it was finally time to pursue and release their true passion to the world; ephemeral alternative pop music. Jane’s first two self-produced offerings, “Melted Honey” and the quite contrasting “Compartmentalise” detail the pandemic, power imbalances and loss. But within the frightening themes and at times slightly disorienting sound effects, there is a drive for self-determination and acceptance. A promise that utopia will always still be up ahead.
