Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, cloven formerly known as 'Lil RiceCooker' started making music as a joke in 2022 hence the name 'Lil RiceCooker.' In 2023 cloven would start taking music more seriously. He would consistently drop music under the name 'Lil RiceCooker' until January 2025 he changed his name to cloven. After the name change came a genre switch to a hyperpop adjacent sound.
