Seen playing at some of Melbourne’s top venues such as the Barleycorn and the Mt Waverley RSL, Codger clearly have enough friends and family to attract double figure crowds. According to local street press “This band is going to go a long way”, or was that “This band has a long way to go”? As if they would ever remember, the rider is normally gone well before the first band go on, which is often Codger themselves. “We tried to bill them later in the night, but vomit in the pickups made them sound even worse than usual” Conveniently this band is so good they get consistently billed in first place. If you are lucky enough to catch Codger at a venue with more than one speaker in the PA working (not that we don’t love the Birmingham Hotel) you will find Codger truly inspiring, if they can get a gig anyone can. Free beer is just six strings and 2 lessons away!! Major influences: Cosmic Psychos, L7, The Twits, Spinal Tap, and their local hero Clayton South and his band the Peninsula
