The outfit began as a duo, singer-songwriters James and Sean Hickey. The brothers began playing a mixture of jazz standards and acoustic originals in 2001 at various venues around their hometown of Adelaide. They have played numerous venues including the Grace Emily, Jive, Jade Monkey, and the Rhino Room. The hi-light for 2005 was winning the first heat of the Adelaide University band competition and coming a close 3rd in the final. After some lineup changes the band has reformed in 2006 and is ready to rock the FUSE festival in March before recording an ep in April. With the expressive vocals and lead guitar of James Hickey, and the smooth tones from Sean Hickey’s trumpet Comrad64 takes pop-rock to interesting and at times very non-rock realms of musical expression.
